When the Champions Trophy returns, Pakistan will host its first ICC big event in 29 years, and excitement is at an all-time high.
The competition will feature matches in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, a cricket player who thrived on the city’s streets and led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, is eager to see Karachi given its moment in the spotlight.
“My city is Karachi,” he declared. “I hope a lot of people will visit the City of Lights; it’s a fantastic location.
“There’s always something going on; people are getting together, eating, and enjoying themselves. There is a lot of excitement about it.
We have a long history, particularly in cricket, where we have a fantastic venue and many outstanding players.
When Pakistan plays New Zealand in the opening match on February 19, Karachi supporters will want to watch Kane Williamson bat. It’s also very welcoming and respectful of rival players.
“I would encourage everyone to visit Karachi at night and sample the cuisine! Additionally, the people are incredibly kind; you can be sure that the locals will give you a wonderful welcome.
In addition to hosting the second semi-final and potential final on March 9, the 35,000-seat Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host its maiden match on February 22 when Australia plays England.
Having grown up in the northeastern metropolis, Babar Azam will be eager to play for Pakistan at that time.
“I am based in Lahore, so it is important to me,” Babar stated.
I began playing cricket there, so the Lahore supporters and the ground are unique. I had a dream of seeing foreign players play for the first time in a stadium in Lahore.
“The love from people, their excitement, and the cheers I get from there give me more confidence because I got that boost and played the majority of my cricket there.”
“You can explore many places in Lahore, such as MM Road, Model Town, and Defence. The food in Lahore is also very delicious.”
Because he was stationed there for his extended stay with the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL, Sarfaraz also has pleasant recollections of the city and stadium.
He declared, “It is a fantastic cricketing city that is eager to welcome visitors from outside Pakistan.”
Like stadiums in England and Australia, Lahore’s stadium is amazing and offers a breathtaking view from the stands. Inside, everything is brand-new and amazing.
Breakfasts in Lahore are very well-known; if you’re ever in the area, you must try them. There are several of food options, including paya, halwa puri, and lassi in particular.
The third host city is Rawalpindi, which has produced players like Azhar Mahmood, Haris Rauf, and Shoaib Akhtar, who is well-known as the Rawalpindi Express.
The Tigers’ match against New Zealand, the possibly pivotal final Group A match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, and the Group B match between South Africa and Australia will all take place at the 20,000-seat Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Sarfaraz remarked, “Rawalpindi carries on the Pakistan tradition of gracious hospitality.”
Although the style of each city varies, one thing is always the same: wherever you go, you will be greeted with warmth.
“Rawalpindi, or just Pindi, is a stunning city with some amazing things to see. I suggest including a few tourist attractions on your trip if you have the time. Both the ancient Taxila site and the Rohtas Fort are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
“Rawalpindi is renowned for being a batter’s field in cricket, and I believe we might witness scores of 350 or more. Some matchups should be enjoyable as a result.
“Every one of the three cities is eager and prepared to host the Champions Trophy. It is hoped that more cricket would be played in Pakistan thanks to this tournament. Pakistanis are thrilled to welcome visitors from throughout the globe.
