After the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 mini auction ended, the only thing left to do was organise the competition. Fortunately for the supporters, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has apparently decided on a window for the league’s third season.
It has been reported that the major event may take place from February 6 to March 9, 2025, and it will take place across a month in early February and March.
The precise dates are still to be determined. Additionally, the WPL 2025 will feature 22 games, much like the previous two seasons.
The BCCI had intended to launch a new squad for the upcoming WPL season, but that plan has been shelved. In addition, the board has not yet decided on the tournament’s locations. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has reportedly not been asked to host any games. Additionally, a KSCA representative affirmed that Bengaluru is not being given the same consideration.
The women of the RCB are looking to defend their title.
A lot of focus will be on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women as the upcoming WPL season draws near. The RCB ladies, led by Smriti Mandhana, broke the franchise’s curse and took home their first trophy. In their second season, the women’s team was able to play in the IPL, something that the men’s team has been unable to do.
However, RCB ladies will be hoping for a successful title defence as the new season draws near. The franchise may have a difficult road ahead of it, but many fans have been eagerly awaiting the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
