‘Don’t think India are my favourite opponent’ – Travis Head before of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Starting on November 22, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will take place. In the last four high-profile meetings, Team India has prevailed, with Australia’s last series win dating back to the 2014–15 campaign. Spin guru Nathan Lyon said ahead of the next edition that the team is motivated to win this time, while players like Steven Smith and Mitchell Starc also discussed the fierce rivalry they have with India.

The most recent Australian cricket player to weigh in on the forthcoming series is Travis Head. Notably, he aims to make a big impact during the forthcoming Australian summer and has an excellent record against India. The flashy batsman, however, revealed that despite Australia playing them a lot, India is not his favourite international opponent.

They don’t seem to be my favourites. We simply don’t play them enough, in my opinion. Additionally, I believe that I’ve been in good form for the past few years. Thus, it’s always pleasant to be able to play well. It’s easy to stand up for the competition. It has intense competition. Yes, getting ready for the game is simpler. Therefore, I wouldn’t claim that they’re my favourites,” Head stated in conversation.

“They’re very tough, but it’s been enjoyable to perform well in a few games. I’m looking forward to getting ready and practicing well, and hopefully I can help make this summer a success for us,” he continued.

Australia will compete in five Test matches before to facing India at home.
India will play five more Test matches, two against Bangladesh and three against New Zealand, before their historic visit of Australia. India still has concerns, therefore the two series will allow the team management to finalise their selection for the Australia series.
