Star cricketer Virat Kohli is at the forefront of the fitness transformation in Indian cricket. His dedication to physical fitness and diet has not only lifted his performance but has also inspired a generation of cricketers globally to prioritize their health and conditioning.
In the past, the Indian squad was frequently thought to be among the less physically gifted teams. The existence of senior players, who were renowned for their competence in their primary roles but not for their endurance or agility, contributed to this reputation in part. But ever since Kohli made the decision to embark on a fitness quest, other players have behaved similarly.
When considering this change, former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha noted that in India, cricket players now have far higher fitness standards at every level of the game.
You could find one, two, or three players who were incredibly fit if you go back fifteen to twenty years. Following that, Virat Kohli arrived and established a culture that not only benefited the Indian team but also the boys’ fitness levels in club, local, and domestic cricket because of his influence, Ojha revealed in an exclusive interview.
All the boys who are coming are fit: Pragyan Ojha
The future crop of Indian cricket players is clearly a product of this fitness revolution. Ojha stated that he believes young players like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will lead the Indian squad in the future.
Thus, I believe that since all of the boys who are coming here are now fit, their bar has raised. When discussing power training or the Yo-Yo test, the benchmark for boys from ten years ago has increased by twenty percent. Look at Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Yashasvi Jaiswal—these three guys will lead the Indian squad to success,” he continued.
