Although the Mumbai Indians are eager to sign the ace spinner and are rumoured to have met with him about it, the Gujarat Titans are interested in keeping Rashid Khan ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
During the past three IPL seasons, Rashid has taken 56 wickets in 45 games, making him one of the top match-winners. He helped Gujarat win their first title in 2022 after defeating Rajasthan, and he was the equal second-leading wicket-taker in the Titans’ runners-up finish in 2023.
An asset like Rashid is unlikely to be let go by the Titans, who anticipate keeping him in one of the top brackets with captain Shubman Gill. But there’s a slim chance that the Afghanistan international would think about moving to Mumbai since he plays for other MI-owned teams throughout the world and gets along well with the owners.
However, Mumbai is unable to use the trade window that they did for Hardik Pandya last year. In order to bring Rashid in, they must persuade him to attend the auction and then pursue him. Even so, there is no assurance that you will win him at auction because almost every team would be prepared to pay a hefty price for him.
Also, Mumbai is now interested in keeping Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav. If they were to do so, they would need to spend at least INR 75 crore, which would leave them with a much smaller purse.

Using the trade window to get Rashid before the 2026 Indian Premier League is one option. Mumbai failed in their attempt to bring the spinner on board before the 2023 IPL. One cannot, however, completely rule out the possibility of employing it once more in the future.
