Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, recently came forth and backed KL Rahul, who has been struggling, to return to his peak. It is important to note that following India’s defeat by New Zealand in the opening Test of the three-match series, Rahul has been the target of harsh criticism regarding his performance in the longest format.
KL Rahul scored 12 runs in the second innings of the first Test match against New Zealand after being removed for a duck in the first. India was ultimately defeated by eight wickets by New Zealand.
India head coach Gautam Gambhir, however, threw his weight behind the struggling Rahul and outlined his expectations for the second game despite his previous struggles.
“Playing XI is not decided by social media. The opinions of team management are more significant than those of specialists or social media. On a hard Kanpur pitch, he had a respectable knock. He would certainly like to score a lot of runs. During the pre-game press conference, Gambhir stated, “And this team management is looking to back him.”

Gambhir also lavished KL Rahul with accolades for his innings against Bangladesh in the Kanpur Test. In the second Test match against Bangladesh, Rahul hit 68 runs in 43 deliveries, and Gambhir stated that he hopes to see more of that from him in the games to come.
However, I think Rahul is batting pretty well, had a respectable knock in Kanpur, played as planned, and was obviously on a challenging pitch. The Times of India quoted Gambhir as stating, “I am sure he would be aware that he wants to score big runs, and he has the capability of scoring these big runs, which is why the team management is backing him.”
