Three matches in the current Ranji Trophy tournament are scheduled to take place at Bihar’s Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. The games will take place in January 2025 and October-November of this year. The Bihar state team presently calls the location their home field.
Currently ranked last in Group C’s Elite division, Bihar will begin their home leg against Karnataka on October 26. Rakesh Tiwari, the president of the Bihar Cricket Association, expressed optimism about the venue’s potential to hold Ranji Trophy matches.
“We are overjoyed to have Moin-ul-Haq Stadium host the Ranji Trophy matches. Players playing on their home pitch excites us. According to a BCA press release, Tiwari stated, “We are also confident that the Bihar team will put up a strong fight in the upcoming home matches.”
The Bihar government and BCCI will sign an MOU.
In order to renovate the venue, the Bihar government and the BCCI are also expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presided over a cabinet meeting where the decision was finalised.
In addition to citing a reason for the upgrade process, Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth assessed the venue’s possibilities for the future once the redevelopment is complete.
On Tuesday, the cabinet gave its approval to the state sports department’s proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the BCCI. This will turn the location into an international stadium with cutting-edge amenities where games will be played both day and night and other sports events will be held.
According to ACS Siddharth, “the agreement will be signed very soon and immediately after that construction work shall start, which will be completed in 36 months,” Business Standard said. “After completion of the construction, the BCCI will organise matches and other sporting activities till seven years after that period, profit will be shared with the state government on a 50-50 basis.”
