On the opening day of the second Test, which took place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 24, New Zealand and India played to a draw.
On a track that was favourable to spinners, Devon Conway chose to bat first. He batted brilliantly, scoring his second fifty of the trip at 76(141). An outstanding effort by the in-form Rachin Ravindra, who is now at 65(105), helped New Zealand to a respectable total. However, no other batters were able to provide the Kiwis with any help, thus they were forced to accept 259 runs.
Regarding India’s bowling, Washington Sundar (7/59) had an outstanding return to Test cricket with a brilliant performance. Ravichandran Ashwin (3/64) provided Sundar with outstanding support and bowled brilliantly.
