On the first day of the second Test match between India and New Zealand in Pune, Washington Sundar caused chaos. After more than three years, he took seven wickets in an Indian Test match. Consequently, New Zealand was dismissed for a mere 259 runs. There was a lot of laughing when Rishabh Pant helped Sundar out from behind the wicket during the amazing session.
Sundar was preparing to take out Ajaz Patel, the spinner from New Zealand, who was batting. In Hindi, Pant told the 25-year-old to bowl a bigger delivery just before he took the mark. Long after taking the suggestion, the Indian spinner was blasted for a boundary. Pant then attempted to save face by claiming he was unaware that Patel was fluent in Hindi.
“You can bowl him more thoroughly…Pant said, “I had no idea he knew Hindi.”

We anticipated that it would begin to spin on Day 1: Washington Sundar
To take on New Zealand’s left-handed hitters, Sundar was added to the team. Eventually, he picked a career-best 7/59, surpassing the expectations. Key members of the opposition, including Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, and Rachin Ravindra, were sent back by him. Following the conclusion of the day’s play, the spinner from Tamil Nadu selected Rachin’s wicket as his favourite. Notably, Rachin’s 134-run effort earned him Player of the Match in the opening Test.
“I just concentrated on consistently hitting the right spots.” From the first day, we knew it would begin to spin. In response to the question of whether there was a favourite wicket, Sundar stated, “Definitely the Rachin Ravindra wicket, as he was batting really well, and even the Daryl Mitchell wicket.”
