In the ICC Test rankings, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada has overtaken India’s Jasprit Bumrah as the top bowler. Rabada soared to the top of the rankings with his nine-wicket haul against Bangladesh in the just finished first Test at Mirpur. With three wickets in the first innings and a six-fer in the second, he claimed his 300th Test victim against Bangladesh.
He became the third-fastest Proteas bowler to reach the milestone in terms of matches played and the quickest in terms of balls bowled (11817) to do so with this spell, surpassing the 300 Test wicket mark.
In January 2018, Kagiso Rabada became the number one bowler in the ICC Test rankings, a status he held until February 2019 before losing it.
However, it is noteworthy that the bowler continued to rank in the top 10. He passed Ravichandran Ashwin and Josh Hazlewood to secure the coveted position with his nine-wicket haul against Bangladesh. Bumrah and Ashwin dropped to third and fourth place, respectively, while Hazlewood is in second place.
However, the recent success of Pakistan’s spin wonders Noman Ali and Sajid Khan against England in the second and third Test matches has also helped them. In his two appearances, Noman took nine and eleven wickets. In two Test matches, Sajid took nine and ten wickets. As a result, Sajid rose 12 positions to 38th place, while Noman reached a career-high rating of ninth place.
Speaking of batters, Joe Root remains ranked first in the ICC Test batting rankings despite his lacklustre showings in the second and third Test matches against Pakistan.
