On November 27, the Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban will host the opening match of South Africa’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The second Test match is set to begin on December 5 at the St George’s Park Cricket Ground in Gqeberha.
There have been 31 Test matches between South Africa and Sri Lanka, with 16 victories for South Africa and nine for Sri Lanka, and six draws. Given that South Africa is now fifth in the standings and behind third-place Sri Lanka, the outcome of the two-match series will be significant for the countries competing in the ICC World Test Championship 2023–25. South Africa has won four of the eight Test matches in the current cycle, while Sri Lanka has won five.
These countries haven’t played each other in a Test series since 2020–21 (December–January), when the hosts won 2-0.
