The youngest player ever chosen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After making significant contributions in domestic cricket, Vaibhav, who was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 crore at auction, has more than earned his spot in the team.
In a recent statement, Vaibhav Suryavanshi father described his son as the son of Bihar while discussing how he became an overnight phenomenon at the IPL Mega Auction. He also recalled the difficult times when he used to take his son to cricket lessons.
“He is now the son of the entire state of Bihar, not just mine. My youngster has put forth a lot of effort. He performed exceptionally well at the U-16 district trials at the age of eight. News18 cited Sanjiv Suryavanshi as saying, “I would take him to Samastipur for his cricket coaching and then take him back.”
RR is still pursuing a second IPL championship.
Speaking of the Rajasthan Royals, the opening day of the mega auction was a quiet day for the team. On the second day, though, they were able to draw in a large number of names. The team will aspire for a successful season in the 2025 Indian Premier League with players like Tushar Deshpande, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, and many more in their lineup.
It is noteworthy that the Royals, who advanced to the 2022 summit clash, have been among the IPL’s top performers since 2022. Despite not making it to the knockout stages in 2023, the team had a great 2024 campaign and came extremely near.
The Royals will be hoping that with a fresh core of players, they can improve and win their second IPL championship with a redesigned roster ahead of the 2025 tournament.
