Chandni Sharma has guaranteed a place in the India Women’s Under-19 ‘A’ squad for the forthcoming triangular series against South Africa and India ‘B’. The 18-year-old leg-spinner from Lucknow lives in Bangla Bazaar with his father, who works as a barber. Despite financial limitations, his father sent the young cricket player to the cricket academy since he recognized her passion for the game.
Chandni was thrilled about her selection to the Indian U-19 team and the prospects that would follow. Yuzvendra Chahal, the star spinner for India, was also highlighted by her. She disclosed that she looks up to him as a bowler and that he is her idol. She also praised the abilities of India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, to perform under pressure.
Joining the Under-19 India ‘A’ team makes me delighted. The hard work of my coaches and my family has led to this success. Despite our financial difficulties and his initial inability to pay for my academy fee, my father never held me back. He informed teachers Priyanka Shaili and Saima Ali that he couldn’t pay but still wanted me to study cricket when he finally brought me to the Northern Railway Stadium. I have been playing in the stadium ever since, and my coaches have been a huge help. I aspire to bowl like Yuzvendra Chahal because I view him as my hero. In addition, I respect Rohit Sharma’s batting approach,” Chandni stated, as cited by TOI.
