The schedule for Zimbabwe’s forthcoming December–January home series against Afghanistan has been altered. The decision to transfer some of the games to the weekends in an attempt to increase fan interest follows.
The T20I matches will now start on Wednesday, December 11, instead of December 9, 11, and 12. The games listed below are scheduled for Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14. Speaking about the ODI series, it will now take place on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, December 17, instead of the original dates of December 15, 17, and 19.
According to Givemore Makoni, managing director of Zimbabwe Cricket, this is a chance for supporters to “experience top-level cricket.”
“We want to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to witness elite cricket because we recognize the fervor our supporters have for the sport. The mood at Harare Sports Club is improved by moving important games to the weekend, according to Makoni, who was cited by ICC.
As Zimbabwe gets ready for its first Boxing Day Test since the 1996 match against England, the Test series’ schedule hasn’t changed. From December 26 to 30, the Boxing Day match will take place in Bulawayo. The New Year’s Test will thereafter take place there from January 2 to 6.
