At the 2025 IPL mega-auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad paid INR 11.25 crore to get Ishan Kishan. The Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians were all in the running, but Hyderabad made the biggest offer to sign the southpaw. Kishan, however, has become incredibly well-known while playing for Mumbai. He has scored 2325 runs for the team and, after doing well for the five-time champions, made his debut for his country.
Mumbai wanted him back, but skipper Hardik Pandya acknowledged that regaining the “pocket dynamo” would be challenging. The all-rounder went on to say that the Bihar native had brought “freshness” and “energy” to the room, making many people smile, and that he will be missed in the dressing room.
“Ishan Kishan has brought “vigour” and “freshness” to the space.
We always understood that it would be extremely difficult to win him back from the auction when we were unable to keep him since we knew the type of player and skill set he brought. “He has made many people smile and always kept the dressing room light,” Hardik remarked in a video that the Mumbai Indians posted.
“That affection and warmth came naturally to him, and there will be fewer cake smashings and practical jokes on people.” Our staff will miss Ishan, who used to show us so much love. MI’s pocket dynamo will always be you, Ishan Kishan. We will all miss you, and we all adore you,” he continued.

Ryan Rickelton was brought in by the five-time champs to replace Kishan. In order to play Robin Minz lower in the order, the South Africa international can either open with Rohit Sharma at the top of the order or Will Jacks.
