In the early hours of Day 2 of the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane on Sunday, December 15, Jasprit Bumrah extended his outstanding play in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 by dismissing Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney with a couple of outstanding deliveries.
In order to increase his total of 12 wickets from the first two Test matches in the five-match series, Bumrah needed seven balls on Day 2. Khawaja was drawn into a defensive push by the right-arm seamer’s delivery around the off-stump line. Pitching from the around-the-wicket angle, the ball straightened and opened up the southpaw, taking the outside edge as it passed through to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
In the 17th over, the hosts lost their first wicket at 31. After facing 54 balls, Khawaja was removed for 21, continuing his miserable series run.

After taking this wicket, Jasprit Bumrah continued to play in the series, defeating McSweeney in his next over for the fourth time in five innings.
The 31-year-old speedster angled back into the right-handed hitter after dropping a delivery that was just short of a good length.
Due to his inconsistent technique, McSweeney ultimately stood awkwardly while playing the delivery. He played inside the ball’s line, and Virat Kohli got a heavy outside edge at second slip. In a rapid succession of two Australian wickets, the former captain of India made no mistakes.
Due to the continuous rain on Day 1, only 13.2 overs were bowled; on Day 2, 98 overs are scheduled. The sun has finally arrived, which means that the weather is considerably nicer for a game of cricket. The two teams are trying to establish their supremacy in the series, so cricket fans can anticipate a lot of action on Sunday.
