On Day 5 at The Gabba in Brisbane, Jasprit Bumrah continued his purple patch in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, dismissing Usman Khawaja in his second over during Australia’s second innings.
The players were forced to wait in their changing rooms after India was bowled out for 260 in their opening innings because the umpires had to call an early lunch break due to rain.
In the second session, Jasprit Bumrah defeated Khawaja with a delivery that was just perfect.
The prolific pacer angled back into off-stump and bowled from around the wicket, pitching the ball on a decent length.
There was a large space between bat and pad and the Australian opener was trapped in his crease. Bumrah’s delivery struck the top of the off-stump after bouncing off the inside edge and flicking a small portion of the back pad.

In the current series, Khawaja was dismissed to Bumrah for the fourth time in five innings. Compared to the Indian vice-captain, his average is a pitiful 4.25.
To add some spice, India takes five fast wickets.
With a 185-run advantage in the first innings, Australia emerged feeling upbeat. They lost half of their side for 33 runs in 11 overs, though, so the move backfired. Following his dismissal of Khawaja, Bumrah sent Marnus Labuschagne back to the hut.
As the first substitute bowler, Akash Deep removed Mitchell Marsh and Nathan McSweeney. Steve Smith was taken out by Mohammed Siraj, who returned for his second tenure. Australia’s lead was just 218 at 33/5. In order to increase their chances of recording one of their most well-known victories, the tourists would like to quickly dispatch the Australian lower-order.
