After the draw in the third Test of the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, legendary all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket, marking a significant milestone for Indian cricket. During the press conference held after the game, Ashwin made the news.
Ashwin’s only appeared in one of the first three games, in Adelaide, before being replaced by Ravindra Jadeja for the Gabba encounter in Brisbane. With 537 wickets in 106 games, Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in Test cricket and has announced his retirement from the game. Ashwin took front stage after the announcement and discussed his experience with the Indian cricket squad.
“To be honest, I have no idea how to approach this. It’s simpler to talk in the team meeting, but nevertheless. even if I’m not displaying it. For me, it’s a really emotional time. It seems like I was here on tour in 2011–2012. My first tour in Australia. And I witnessed everyone’s change. Sachin Paaji and Rahul Bhai departed. But believe me, folks—everyone’s time comes. And it was really my time today. It’s been fun. I really liked it. have developed some wonderful friendships and relationships over the past four or five years,” Ashwin stated in a video that the BCCI released.

I will always be a cricket nut: Ashwin’s
Ashwin also considered how his passion for cricket will endure forever, even though his career as an international player is over. He told his teammates that he would also be anticipating their performances.
It’s possible that my days of being an Indian and international cricket player are over. However, I will always be a cricket nut. Therefore, I’ll be anticipating each of your performances.
