Champions Trophy 2025 to start on February 19, India vs Pakistan on February 23

On Tuesday, December 24, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the schedule for the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, which will be played in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates from February 19 to March 9.

For the first time since the last edition in 2017, the 15-match, eight-team competition is back on the cricket calendar. The UAE has been confirmed as the neutral venue, and defending champions Pakistan will host their first international cricket tournament since 1996.

In the exciting 19-day tournament, where every game matters in the pursuit of the coveted Champions Trophy white jackets, Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, and Pakistan will form Group A, while Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa will form Group B.

The matches in Pakistan will be held at stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, while the matches in the United Arab Emirates will be held in Dubai. Fans are urged to express interest in tickets online prior to the initial sale.

The Champions Trophy starts on February 19, the first day of the competition, in Karachi, with hosts Pakistan playing New Zealand. Afghanistan vs. South Africa on February 21 in Karachi and Bangladesh vs. India on the second day of the competition in Dubai are two other important matches.

One of cricket’s most renowned rivalries will take place in Lahore on February 22 between Australia and England, followed by the highly anticipated Pakistan vs. India match in Dubai on February 23.

With the first semi-final set for March 4 in Dubai and the second semi-final set for March 5 in Lahore, the exciting event highlights the best of cricket in a single, huge day out. If India advances to the final, it will take place in Dubai, where the winning team will receive the renowned white jackets. The final is scheduled to take place in Lahore on March 9. The final and the semifinals will both have reserve days.

“With the much-awaited return of the Men’s Champions Trophy since 2017, the ICC is pleased to announce the schedule for 2025,” said ICC Chair Jay Shah. Eight teams will compete for the coveted white jackets in this exciting competition, which will provide fans 15 bouts of nonstop entertainment.

The ICC headquarters are located in Dubai, therefore this edition, which will be held in Pakistan and the UAE, offers a chance to highlight cricket’s greatest traditions while incorporating new elements. There is no doubt that this Champions Trophy will be an unforgettable celebration of the best cricket players in the world..

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi said: “We are pleased that an agreement has been reached based on the principles of equality and respect, showcasing the spirit of cooperation and collaboration that defines our sport.

“Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the ICC members who played a constructive role in helping us achieve a mutually beneficial solution. Their efforts have been invaluable in promoting the interests of international cricket.

“Hosting the Champions Trophy is a significant milestone for Pakistan, highlighting our commitment to promoting cricket at the highest level and showcasing our capabilities as a premier event organizer. We are dedicated to ensuring that this tournament will be a memorable experience for players, officials, and fans alike.

“Pakistan is elated to welcome the world to the Champions Trophy, and we look forward to extending our renowned hospitality to all.”
