For the fourth and fifth Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India’s all-rounder Tanush Kotian has been added to the team by the Men’s Selection Committee.
In 33 first-class games, the Mumbai off-spinner has claimed 101 wickets at an average of 25.70. Kotian’s bowling accomplishments are complemented by three five-wicket hauls, two hundreds, and thirteen half-centuries. He played in the second first-class match between India A and Australia A at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as a member of the India A team.
A key factor in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy 2023–24 victory was Tanush Kotian.
With an average of 41.83 runs and 29 wickets at an average of 16.96, he was named Player of the Tournament for his exceptional all-around performance.
For the last two BGT tests, Shami was judged unfit.
The BCCI Medical Team has concluded that more time is needed for Mohammad Shami’s knee to be exposed to regulated bowling loads based on the results of the most recent medical evaluation. He has therefore been ruled ineligible to play in the final two Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test matches.
In order to develop the bowling loads required to handle the demands of the game’s longest format, Shami will continue to receive specialised strength and fitness training at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, overseen by the medical team. The outcome of his knee condition will determine if he can compete in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the November Ranji Trophy encounter between Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, Shami bowled 43 overs. He then participated in all nine Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) games, where he also attended extra sideline bowling sessions to increase his bowling volume and prepare for the Test matches. Unfortunately, the endeavour was unsuccessful.
