One of the highlights of Melbourne Cricket Ground’s Boxing Day Test has been the match between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Konstas. In the first innings, the newcomer showed little trouble handling the India bowler, daring to smash ramps and reverse scoops against Bumrah and succeeding. Australia got off to a fantastic start in the game when he finally smashed 60 runs from 65 deliveries.
However, Konstas’ genius did not deter Bumrah. The 31-year-old said he was unlucky to not take his wicket six or seven times in the first innings prior to Day 3 of the Test. The 19-year-old, however, was ecstatic following the incredible start. He was spotted signing autographs and taking selfies with the fans on Day 1, and on Days 2 and 3, the child was actively interacting with the audience.
Day 4’s first session included Round 2 of Konstas and Jasprit Bumrah.
After appearing assured throughout the first three days, Konstas was obviously in trouble as he appeared to be having problems tackling Bumrah. In the end, the India international had the last laugh after clearing him up with a flawless inswinger that got past his defence and smashed the middle stump. While Konstas was energising the fans during India’s batting in the first innings, Bumrah celebrated by doing the same.

Notably, Bumrah doesn’t typically celebrate his wickets, but the competition with Konstas motivated him to do so. Usman Khawaja struggled to play Bumrah as the opener was dismissed after leaving for eight runs. Although Khawaja was troubled by the great pacer’s amazing length and line, he was able to survive.
The new ball was passed to Akash Deep, who also appeared to be in good shape. The goal of the visitors is to defeat Australia as soon as possible so that India may go to the WTC final.
