An Australia A team has been selected by the National Selection Panel (NSP) to play the England Lions in a four-day tour later this month. From January 30 to February 2, Australia A will play the Lions at Cricket Central.
A young 12-man Australian side led by Jack Edwards, an all-rounder from New South Wales, has been chosen to play the England Lions in a four-day tournament that begins in Sydney on January 30.
The team also includes Will Sutherland and Aaron Hardie.
The team’s oldest player, Kurtis Patterson, 31, has been called up to the Australia A squad for the first time since 2020.
National selector Tony Dodemaide stated, “This match is a valuable opportunity to expose exciting young talent against quality international opposition with a longer lens, following two Australia A fixtures against India A earlier this season that had short-term relevance to the Border Gavaskar Trophy.”
“We anticipate a fiercely competitive matchup with a Lions squad eager to make their individual claims for selection in the Ashes tour of Australia next summer,” he continued.
