Rishabh Pant, the star batsman for India, has made the decision to play for Delhi in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, which starts in Rajkot on January 23. Ashok Sharma of the DDCA confirmed the development. It’s important to remember that Pant didn’t play Ranji in a game since the 2017–2018 season.
But in addition to Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli’s involvement has also come under scrutiny.
As of yet, it is unclear if Kohli will play in the Ranji Trophy match.
“Yes, Pant will promptly join the team in Rajkot and has verified that he is available for the upcoming Ranji match. We want Virat Kohli to participate, but we haven’t heard from him yet. Harshit Rana, on the other hand, is unavailable because he was chosen for the T20 team [for the England games], according to Ashok Sharma.
Remarkably, legendary Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri had urged the current generation of Indian players to resume playing local cricket in order to prevent the outcome of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25.
Additionally, it is anticipated that players like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal will represent their respective state teams, Mumbai and Punjab. Mumbai is also working with captain Rohit Sharma.
India wants to return to its best before the Champions Trophy.
In relation to Team India, they will be recovering from a defeat in the BGT 2024–25. The team managed to win their first game of the series in Perth. However, the Indian team lost the series against Australia due to defeats in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney.
India will try to perform at their highest level and enter the Champions Trophy in prime form as they aim to win the title again, especially with a white-ball series against England coming up.
