Although the Indian team’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad has not yet been revealed, there is still much discussion on the squad’s final 15 players. Numerous prospective players on the list have been playing really well and have a good chance of joining the team.
KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, two players who were also involved in the 2023 World Cup and were crucial in the middle order, have been on the radar. After a heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the championship match, the Indian side finished the tournament as runners-up, but Iyer and Rahul were among their best players. Iyer has also discussed his prospects of participating in the competition, stating that he can bat at any position and sharing his thoughts on his and Rahul’s 2023 World Cup exploits.
I can bat at any position in the batting order because I’m adaptable. I played a crucial role in the centre during the World Cup, as did KL (Rahul). Together, we enjoyed an amazing season. Only in the final, against Australia, were we unable to perform as well as we would have liked.
“I would be extremely proud if I were selected to play for the nation in the Champions Trophy (squad),” Shreyas Iyer remarked.
In the 2023 World Cup, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul were the Indian team’s third and fourth-highest run scorers, respectively. In the 11 games, Iyer averaged 66.25 runs per game with 530 runs, while Rahul averaged 75.33 with 452 runs. Both of them have outstanding records in One-Day International cricket, with Rahul averaging 49.15 and Iyer averaging 47.47.
