On Tuesday, January 28, Virat Kohli is scheduled to resume red-ball practice. This will likely be the star batsman’s first Ranji Trophy debut since November 2012. Sarandeep Singh, Delhi’s head coach, has stated that Kohli will soon join the team.
Last week, Kohli confirmed his availability, according to Sarandeep. The last Group D match between Delhi and Railways is set to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The scheduled start date of the game is January 30.
Virat Kohli reportedly withdrew from Delhi’s last match against Saurashtra due to a neck issue.
His involvement in the next round of India’s top domestic red-ball tournament follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s announcement of rules requiring contracted players to play on the local circuit when they are not on national duty.
Photos and videos of the 36-year-old Kohli honing his skills alongside former Indian and Royal Challengers Bengaluru batting coach Sanjay Bangar have been doing the rounds on social media in recent days. The two were photographed at a Mumbai training center. Before departing with the team to compete in the Champions Trophy, Kohli is scheduled to play for India in their three-match ODI series against England following the match.

However, according to the same report, it is believed that the wicketkeeper-batter was approved by the BCCI medical panel to play in his state’s upcoming match. This will be Rahul’s first outing in the Ranji Trophy scheme of things in over five years.
at Saurashtra’s match against Assam at Rajkot, Ravindra Jadeja, who stood out with a 12-wicket haul against Delhi in the previous round, will play. Riyan Parag, who is expected to play his first competitive game since October 2024 after recuperating from a shoulder injury, will also return in the same match.
