Ravichandran Ashwin is now ranked second in the most recent ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings after collecting eight wickets against Australia in the Nagpur Test.
The Australian red-ball team captain Pat Cummins is only 21 points ahead of him. Ravindra Jadeja, the Man of the Match in the first Test, has climbed in the current ICC rankings for bowlers.
Ashwin, who currently has 846 points, has surpassed James Anderson and Stuart Broad and might replace Cummins in the remaining Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 if he continues to dominate. In Nagpur, Ashwin got three wickets in the first inning and five wickets in the second to help India bowl out Australia for 91 runs. Other than Ashwin, only Jasprit Bumrah, ranked fifth, is among the top ten bowlers in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Jadeja received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance with both bat and ball. In the first innings, he took five wickets, including those of Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. With a 70-run knock, he solidified his position at the top of the Men’s Test All-Rounder rankings. He is presently ranked sixteenth in the bowling rankings.
Jadeja and Ashwin also hold the top two positions in the Test all-list, rounder’s while Axar Patel, who hit an important 84 in Nagpur, climbed six spots to the seventh position.
In the Test Batter rankings, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also climbed two positions, from tenth to eighth. In Nagpur, while the rest of the batsmen fought for momentum, he struck 120 runs off 212 deliveries to lead the team. Rohit is only three points behind Rishabh Pant, and no other Indian batsman ranks among the top ten Test batters.
Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith of Australia dominate the chart, but struggling David Warner and Usman Khawaja fell in the standings. With scores of 1 and 10 in the Nagpur Test, Warner has slid six places to the twenty-second position, while Khawaja has fallen two places to the tenth.
