Less than a week before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, New Zealand will play an ODI match against South Africa and Pakistan in a Tri-Nation series. Jacob Duffy, a pacer, has joined the BlackCaps’ series squad ahead of the trip.
On February 3, the New Zealand team will leave for Pakistan, and Duffy will now be included in the team to travel with them. Notably, he was added at the final minute while serving as a substitute for Lockie Ferguson, a brilliant speedster who is presently participating in the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) 2025.
However, Jacob Duffy will remain a cover for the tri-series and will not be included in the Champions Trophy team.
In addition to Ferguson, Will O’Rourke, Ben Sears, and Matt Henry will be the Kiwis’ specialized pacers going into the eight-team competition. But after playing the Rainbow Nation and the Men in Green in the ODI series, Duffy will head home.
Speaking of Duffy’s white-ball performance, he has taken 18 and 19 wickets in his 10 ODI and 18 T20I appearances, respectively. He collected four wickets in a couple of games at an average of 17.25 in his most recent ODI series against Sri Lanka.
