Express bowler Jofra Archer was hit with three boundaries in the opening over of the fifth Twenty20 International match between England and India by star wicketkeeper and opener Sanju Samson. After a run of low scores in the final four games of the series, the 30-year-old hitter was enjoying himself and needed the start.
Jos Buttler, the captain of England, chose to bowl first at the Wankhede Stadium after winning the toss. Notably, India, who had won three of the series’ games, has already taken the series (3–1). The final game being played at the famous Wankhede is hence a dead rubber.
Many discussions had already been held over Samson’s ability to bounce back from his match-ending setbacks and short ball issues. Jofra Archer bowled short from the first delivery, and Samson immediately hit the ball over deep square leg for six. The Kerala-born player then finished the over with an upper cut over the slip cordon after pulling the fifth ball for six as well. Archer consequently went for 16 runs in the over.

Sanju Samson was entertaining to watch in the first over, and it appeared that he had finally overcome Archer and the short ball dilemma.
However, he was quickly removed by Mark Wood in the second over, when he was caught at deep square leg once more, making it easy for Jofra Archer to take a comfortable catch.
In reference to the Indian innings, they are now at 136/2 after nine overs during this writing. Continuing his aggressive style of play, Abhishek Sharma reached his half-century in just 17 deliveries. Which of Samson’s cameo shots from tonight’s performance was your favourite?
