India will play England in three ODIs to get ready for the Champions Trophy 2025 after sweeping the T20I series. Prior to the first ODI, which will take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday, February 6, India captain Rohit Sharma, the renowned Virat Kohli, and other celebrities like Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill arrived at the Nagpur airport.
Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India won the five-match Twenty20 International series 4-1. But since this would be the Men in Blue’s last preparation before the Champions Trophy, the ODIs will be more important. When India played their most recent ODI series, they did not enjoy themselves. In a three-match series in Sri Lanka, the Rohit-led team fell 0–2 to Charith Asalanka and Co., with one game ending in a draw.
Veterans like Rohit and Virat Kohli, who haven’t been among the run producers in the red-ball format lately, will have the burden.
Some fans and experts even said that they should quit playing Test cricket after their terrible performances in the Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. After a few years, they both made a comeback to the Ranji Trophy scene in order to gain some experience. But they were unable to leave their imprint. In order to boost their confidence before the Champions Trophy, the two legendary bats would be hoping to score some runs in the ODIs against England.

After hammering a courageous century in Punjab’s round six match against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy, Shubman will be feeling quite confident. He serves as the ODI team’s vice-captain as well. There is much room for improvement in Shubman’s Test cricket performances. He has, nevertheless, been a formidable presence in the ODI setup. In 47 One-Day Internationals, the right-handed batsman has amassed 2,328 runs at an incredible average of 58.20. He would play a significant part at the top of the order. Moreover, Shreyas Iyer will play his first international game since August 2024, therefore his form will be vital for India.
