Capitals of Delhi The Women’s Premier League’s third edition has women ready. After an incredible 2024 season, the squad lost the trophy to Royal Challengers Bengaluru due to a final-minute lapse. They had won six of their eight games going into the playoffs and were the most dreaded team during the league stages.
Their batting in particular was their strongest suit since they set difficult goals and easily chased them. If they win the final battle, Delhi will be eager to do the same this year, but with a different result. The head coach of the DC, Jonathan Batty, said that the team’s experience last year, namely in Delhi and Lucknow, helped them tremendously and that it was fortunate to have access to such wickets ahead of the WPL 2025, which is set to start on February 14.
The last two years have been quite fortunate for us because the wickets we’ve played on have been outstanding, and we’ve witnessed some fiercely fought, high-scoring matches. We’re simply going game by game, evaluating the situation as we go. The practicing facilities we had in Pune were truly fortunate; we were able to practice on wickets made of red and black soil. Therefore, we’re attempting to cover all the bases without really knowing what we’re going to discover,” Batty stated, as reported by News18.
“This wicket is amazing here at Kotambi Stadium. It goes without saying that the Indian women’s recent series here (against Ireland) was extremely high-scoring. I anticipate that the wickets will be outstanding from that perspective. You have to evaluate those conditions when you step onto the pitch, as is always the case with cricket, and you attempt to do it in advance’, he continued.
