After Australia and South Africa’s crucial Champions Trophy 2025 match was called off without a toss at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, February 25, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been under fire.
Former Indian cricket player Mohammad Kaif blasted the PCB, saying they were misusing ICC cash. It was raining hard, but not enough to cover the ground.
Mohammad Kaif blasted the pathetic setup on ‘X’ (previously Twitter) by sharing a photo of the soggy Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Unfortunately, the Rawalpindi ground isn’t completely covered. If this problem is not resolved, a crucial match between Australia and South Africa could be ruined. Did the hosts use the ICC funds wisely? Kaif uploaded.
The pitch and its environs were the only areas of the Rawalpindi ground that had any kind of cover in the picture that Kaif shared.

It’s a shame that the Rawalpindi ground isn’t fully covered. Such an important match – SA vs Aus – might go down the drain because no one addressed this issue. Was the ICC money utilised wisely by hosts? pic.twitter.com/nPwthd1fji

South Africa and Australia had to settle for just one point apiece from the match. With three points from two games, the Proteas are atop the table. Although Australia has the same number of points from as many games as South Africa, their net run-rate of +0.475 is significantly lower.
At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, there will only be one more match. On Thursday, February 27, the already-defeated Pakistan and Bangladesh will square off. In the meantime, on Wednesday, February 26 in Lahore, England and Afghanistan will play a hypothetical knockout match in Group B. As teams compete for berths in the semi-finals, the Champions Trophy is slowly approaching its conclusion.
