In the current ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Match 11, South African all-rounder Marco Jansen dismissed England’s Harry Brook with a spectacular catch at midwicket. England’s innings, which had already had early setbacks against a strong South African bowling attack, was further damaged by the dismissal.
In an attempt to end their Group B campaign on a good note, the Three Lions played the Proteas at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Saturday. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Jos Buttler-led team had a dismal start as they lost their top order in less than seven overs.
The incident, meanwhile, happened in the seventeenth over. Brook was invited to go big when Keshav Maharaj bowled a tossed-up delivery on the leg stump. Attempting to loft the bait over midwicket, the right-hander was unable to produce enough elevation. After sprinting 28 meters in the outfield from long-on, Jansen made a flawless dive to his right and slid onto his knees while holding onto the ball. After making 19 of 29 deliveries, Brook went back in disbelief.

Goals for South Africa to win Group B
The first three batters were rattled by Jansen, who was the main architect of England’s collapse earlier. He eliminated Jamie Smith before he could get off the mark after dismissing Phil Salt in the opening over.
Ben Duckett, who chipped a catch back to Marco Jansen off a leading edge when batting on 24, was his third victim.
After seven overs, England were at 37/3 and in dire need of a partnership. The innings was successfully rebuilt by Joe Root and Brook, who put up a 62-run partnership. But just when Brook appeared to be settling in, the tall all-rounder had a spectacular moment on the pitch.
The team lost again when Brook was dismissed at 99/4. After just four runs, Joe Root was knocked out for 37 by Wiaan Mulder. Soon after, Liam Livingstone bowled Maharaj out for nine, and England’s score in the 21st over was 114/6. Currently, Buttler is England’s only chance to lead his team to a manageable score. Buttler will want to get the most out of his final match as captain of England.
