During Match 14 of WPL 2025, which took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, March 1, Delhi Capital Women’s captain, Meg Lanning, was dismissed due to an outstanding effort at mid-on by Ellyse Perry against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women.
With just a few runs in the first eleven balls, it was clear that Meg Lanning was having trouble getting going in the middle. Lanning wanted her swing to go big over mid-on, hoping to release the chains. But her bat’s inner half was hit by the ball.
Ellyse Perry, positioned at wide mid-on, nevertheless had a half-chance. S
tanding a few paces ahead of the 30-yard circle, the Australian star all-rounder timed her jump perfectly to hold onto the ball.

Verma and Jonassen easily surpass the 148-run goal.
The only dismissal Bengaluru could give their opponents was Lanning’s. After then, Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen’s undefeated 146-run partnership was crucial to their team’s victory. The Bengaluru bowlers were not allowed to settle by either of the two hitters. Power hitting combined with proactive batting proved to be too effective for Bengaluru.
For an undefeated Delhi team, the aim was never going to be sufficient to present any challenges. They secured their place in the playoffs by surpassing the total in 15.3 overs. This defeat was Bengaluru’s fourth consecutive at the Chinnaswamy, continuing their nightmare run at their home stadium.
There are two games left for Smriti Mandhana and company, and they will both be played in Lucknow. DC, who have all but guaranteed their spot in the playoffs, will play their final league stage match against the Gujarat Giants in Lucknow.
