WPL 2025 Match Review: Beth Mooney and bowlers lead Gujarat Giants Women to amazing win

On Monday, March 3, at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Gujarat Giants Women defeated UP Warriorz Women by an 81-run margin in Match 15 of the Women’s Premier League 2025. The crushing loss caused the hosts to drop to the bottom of the standings.

Dayalan Hemalatha’s poor performance in the 2025 WPL continued when she gave the home team immediate success by nicking one behind on the last delivery of the opening over. In the powerplay, Gujarat’s innings only produced 40 runs. Beth Mooney and Harleen Deol (45 off 32) steered the ship to a comparatively more comfortable position in the six overs that followed that stage. In the thirteenth over, Harleen was removed, giving UP a much-needed breakthrough.

Only twice in 15 games this season has the team batting first successfully defended the objective, as evidenced by the overwhelming victory. The 81-run loss ranked second among the largest run-based loss margins in WPL history.
