In the 2025 Champions Trophy Semi-Final 1 match between India and Australia on Tuesday, March 4, Varun Chakravarthy carried on from his performance against New Zealand by capturing the valuable scalp of Travis Head.
Chakaravarthy dismissed the in-form Head with a single delivery after taking five wickets to clinch Player of the Match against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In the ninth over, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma added the enigmatic spinner to the bowling attack.
Head attempted to loft Varun Chakravarthy straight down the ground after Steve Smith got off strike on the opening delivery.
He made a mistake with the stroke, though, and Shubman Gill made a beautiful catch while sprinting to his left from a distance.
Head was looking in superb form and quickly scored 39 runs when he backed himself to clear long-off. But for the southpaw, the move proved to be expensive. In his rapid-fire knock, he hit two maximums and five fours in 33 balls. Head struggled to acquire a sense of the surface and only managed one run off his first eleven deliveries. But after setting himself up at the crease, he took the Indian pacers to the cleaners.

Australia started slowly because the Indian pacers were accurate. Before the Bengali seamer eventually got the under-edge in the third over, Mohammed Shami repeatedly passed Cooper Connolly’s bat. KL Rahul made a nice low catch.
Because some balls have stopped on the batters and others have turned sharply, the pitch has not been ideal for batting. Because to Head’s early assault, Australia has gotten off to a fast start. India’s batting lineup is strong, therefore they would want to take advantage of it and record a huge total.
