In the Women’s Premier League 2025 Eliminator at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 13, Hayley Matthews started the Mumbai Indians Women’s innings by dismissing Priya Mishra for three fours off consecutive deliveries.
Hayley Matthews successfully dealt with a leg-stump drag-down by rocking onto his back foot and clobbering the ball to the right of the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Priya’s first over’s second delivery was contemptuously chopped across to the deep point area. For the third boundary on the bounce, a delicious full toss was swiped in the direction of the deep backward square leg.

In the 16th over of the innings, the Barbados top-order batsman repeatedly battered the 20-year-old leg spinner. Matthews finished as the innings’ joint-highest scorer with Nat Sciver-Brunt, scoring 77 from 50 deliveries. Mishra’s final three-over figures were 0/40.
Hayley Matthews all-around performance propels Mumbai to the summit match.
Matthews’ hitting was not the only thing that stood out during Gujarat. She was also the star of the ball. She dismissed Ashleigh Gardner, the opposition captain, and Bharti Fulmali, an aggressive middle-order batsman. The final wicket of the Gujarat innings was taken by the Caribbean all-rounder, who finished with three wickets.
She received the Player of the Match award for her excellent performance overall. Mumbai’s victory of 47 runs sent them to their second final in three seasons. Their victory over Gujarat was their third of the season and their seventh overall in WPL history. At the same location on Saturday, March 15, they will play the Delhi Capitals Women in the WPL 2025 final.
