In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finished fourth after having a solid start to the third season with two convincing victories, failing to successfully retain their crown. They were unable to make it to the playoffs, though, after suffering five straight losses in the middle of the competition.
By defeating the Mumbai Indians by 11 runs on Tuesday, March 11, the team captained by Smriti Mandhana avoided finishing at the bottom of the league. This victory also prevented Mumbai, Bengaluru’s bitter rivals, from securing a direct trip to the summit match.
Ellyse Perry, an accomplished all-rounder for Bengaluru who took two wickets and struck an undefeated 49 in Tuesday’s thrilling match, lamented numerous close losses in the tournament’s later stages.
“This season has been challenging for us. With another victory tonight, we concluded on a high note after starting with some pretty impressive victories. But in between, we had a few performances that fell short of our expectations and lost a few close games, which is a little disheartening. Perry stated on JioHotstar, “That being said, it has been an extremely enjoyable season in an amazing competition.”
“Being an RCB player has been an amazing experience, particularly thanks to the supporters.”
It has been amazing to see fans show up for us at various locations, but we have also received amazing support, especially in Bengaluru. Choosing a favorite location is difficult, but for us, Chinnaswamy Stadium holds a particular place. The tournament’s opening games in Baroda, however, were outstanding, and playing in Mumbai and Lucknow also provided a lot of variation. It has been a great experience to move the competition to different locations, and I hope that spectators have enjoyed the matches,” she continued.
Just ahead of UP Warriorz in the standings were the Royal Challengers. The Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, advanced to the playoffs and will play the Gujarat Giants vs. Mumbai victor of the eliminator on Saturday, March 15.
