At match No. 10 of the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a total of seven wickets at Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 30.
In the afternoon match, Pat Cummins chose to bat first after winning the toss. The Orange Army’s innings began disastrously, though, as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed in the opening over. As SRH fell to 37/4, Mitchell Starc bowled three overs during the powerplay, dismissing Travis Head and Ishan Kishan.
Heinrich Klaasen joined Aniket Verma in reviving the innings. The pair added 77 runs off 42 deliveries by playing a counterattacking style of cricket. However, SRH quickly lost two more wickets as Mohit Sharma removed Klaasen in the eleventh over.
Aniket appeared to be batting on a another pitch as he produced some incredible strokes. The slower balls from the pacers were also adhering to the surface, and the spinners had a fair degree of turn. But Aniket grabbed the initiative and scored 74 runs off of 41 balls. Ultimately, he was out in the sixteenth over.
Starc took two wickets at the back end to record his first five-for in the lucrative league as SRH was bowled out for 163 in 18.4 overs.
Faf du Plessis’ aggressive batting helped the out-of-form Jake Fraser-McGurk wait at the crease, and the Delhi Capitals got off to a fast start in reply. The SRH fielders also assisted the Australian young player by seizing a few opportunities during the powerplay.
Fraser-McGurk and Du Plessis combined for 81 runs in the opening ten overs. However, Zeeshan Ansari, a rookie leg-spinner, dismissed the two cricketers in the tenth over. With a good attitude, KL Rahul came out to bat at No. 4 and scored 15 runs in his five-ball cameo, hitting two fours and a six. In the game, he became Ansari’s third victim.
Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs joined forces, and they took their team to victory in 16 overs after forming an unbeaten 51-run partnership off 28 balls.
