On Sunday, April 13, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a commanding nine wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, marking their fourth IPL 2025 defeat. After a lacklustre performance against the Delhi Capitals, RCB came back to winning ways by staying composed and sticking to the fundamentals.
Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 75 off 47, RR’s innings never really got underway when they were asked to bat first. On a slow pitch, Jaiswal held one end well, but RR was unable to reach a manageable total due to the other end’s lack of assistance. Only 47 runs could be scored in 49 balls by the remaining batters.
After adding 15 off 19, skipper Sanju Samson also laboured and lost. The RCB held Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel at 173/4, despite their attempts to score runs at a greater strike rate. In his four overs, Krunal Pandya concluded with a score of 1/29, with assistance from other bowlers.
RCB didn’t spend any time in pursuing 174. RR’s bowling attack was completely destroyed by Phil Salt on the powerplay. He hit 65 runs off 33 balls, including five boundaries and six sixes. Following Salt’s departure, Virat Kohli assumed the job of anchor. Kohli tied David Warner’s record with his 66th IPL half-century, guaranteeing that the chase would not be challenged again. He had strong backing from Devdutt Padikkal, who scored an undefeated 40 to help RCB reach the goal in 17.3 overs. By winning this game, RCB moved up to third place in the standings and won four straight away games.

2. Virat Kohli notches up his 100th T20 fifty
Virat Kohli reached yet another milestone as he brought up his 100th T20 half-century with a brilliant unbeaten 62 off 45 balls against RR. His third half-century of the season came in typical fashion. He survived an early scare when Riyan Parag dropped him off Sandeep Sharma, who has dismissed Kohli seven times in the IPL, the most by any bowler. Since 2022, Kohli has scored the most 50+ scores in IPL (19 in 51 innings). His latest milestone places him second only to David Warner (108) in T20 fifties globally. 3. RCB bowlers contain RR to below-par score despite Jaiswal’s knock
Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed with his 75 off 47 balls, but RCB’s bowlers made sure to restrict the home team to a below-par total at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, where the average first-innings score since 2023 stands at 180. Krunal Pandya (1/29) was economical, while Yash Dayal (1/36), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/32), and Josh Hazlewood (1/26) kept putting pressure on the Rajasthan batters.
