Jason Holder’s all-around performance helped Islamabad United defeat Multan Sultans by 47 runs in Rawalpindi, extending their incredible run in the 2025 Pakistan Super League. The West Indian player finished with figures of 4 for 25 and two catches after hammering a 14-ball 32*. He was brilliant with both bat and ball.
Multan made an immediate impression by choosing to bowl first. Andries Gous was dismissed by David Willey, but Sahibzada Farhan, who had just scored a century against Peshawar, settled in fast. He reached 15 in the fourth and sixth overs as he pursued Michael Bracewell. Even though he lost against Usama Mir shortly after hitting fifty, his 35-ball fifty-three gave him a good start.
Chris Jordan dismissed Shadab Khan and Azam Khan, while Colin Munro added 48 off 25 before being taken by Ubaid Shah with a short ball, causing some middle-order problems for United’s innings.
After that, Jason Holder and Haider Ali destroyed Multan’s bowling attack, scoring 64 runs in the final four overs.
Holder smashed a four and a six off Ubaid, while Haider hit Jordan for three straight boundaries. United reached 202/6, their second consecutive 200-plus total, thanks to their late cameo.
Naseem Shah destroyed Shai Hope in the opening over, so Multan’s response was everything from perfect. With a 59-run partnership between Usman Khan and Mohammad Rizwan, the Sultans swiftly steadied their innings. But Usman was taken out for 31 off 20 by Imad Wasim. Soon after, Shadab Khan killed Rizwan for 38 off 27.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Michael Bracewell put up a fight, contributing 24 runs to the total. However, Holder terminated David Willey’s innings, swept up Usama Mir and Mohammad Hasnain, and had Kamran Ghulam caught. The Sultans fell from 92/2 to 155 all out in 18.4 overs.
