After making his debut in the fierce match between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Saturday, April 19, at the age of 14 years and 23 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player in IPL (Indian Premier League) history. Notably, the game took place at Jaipur’s famed Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
As the first champions chased a 181-run goal in the second innings, the kid opened the batting. He stunned bowler Shardul Thakur and everyone else by hitting a six off the first ball he faced. With two fours and three sixes in a 20-ball thirty-four, the Bihar-born batsman gave his team a strong start.
The former cricket player for India, Sanjay Manjrekar, referred to Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a “wonder boy” and that his parents would have been proud to watch his mature knock.
In addition, the former cricket player commended the Rajasthan Royals for letting the young player demonstrate his abilities at the top of the order.
“Consider parents who are in their late 30s or early 40s viewing this. It was improbable. After hitting two sixes off of solid deliveries, he matured well against the spinners. He made an impression on everyone. Speaking on JioHotstar, Manjrekar stated, “It appeared as though he might cry when he got out, and that would have been perfectly normal at his age.”
Despite having another left-hander at the top of the order, the Rajasthan Royals deserve all the praise for believing in him and providing him with the greatest foundation. They really have a new wonder boy,” he continued.
Rajasthan had a great start but lost the match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryavanshi compiled an 85-run partnership for the first wicket. The Royals let the game slide from a comfortable position, though, so it wasn’t enough. With six wickets remaining, they only needed nine runs in the final over. However, Shimron Hetmyer was crucially removed by Avesh Khan, who bowled wonderfully and gave up just six runs.
