The current IPL 2025 match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) featured a humorous scene. When CSK lost Sam Curran in the fifth over’s third ball, Ravindra Jadeja entered the game to bat at number four. The umpires now use their technology to measure the bat and examine it as a batter enters the pitch in accordance with the new regulations.
The umpires inspect the bats to make sure they are the right size and dimensions in accordance with IPL regulations. A rule prohibiting batters from unfairly utilising heavier bats, which would put bowlers at a disadvantage, was developed by the IPL committee. Thus, the bat failed to pass the measurement equipment when the umpires scrutinised it after Ravindra Jadeja entered.
In order to make the bat smaller from the back, Jadeja wiped it on the ground. It was entertaining when the SRH players assembled and Ishan Kishan made amusing gestures in Jadeja’s direction while stating that the bat was useless. The South Paw swapped bats a moment later and smacked the first ball for a boundary. The bat’s modest edge was used to propel the ball to the boundary.

CSK are in huge trouble
With the game against SRH being a do-or-die affair, CSK have lost four early wickets in the first ten overs. They lost Shaik Rasheed on a golden duck, and then Sam Curran walked back to the pavilion on just nine runs. Amidst the wickets, the 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre once again played an outstanding knock of 19-ball 30 runs.
He was the only batter who looked prepared and played like an experienced batter. After his wicket, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed on 21 runs off 17 balls. Despite scoring one boundary and a maximum, the South Paw failed to continue with the momentum.
The middle order batters like Dewald Brewis, Deepak Hooda, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni will have to make the most out of their home ground and play a solid knock to help the team set a defendable total on the board.
