The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the site of the match between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Rahul Tewatia’s amazing fielding attempt close to the boundary almost provided one of the tournament’s most spectacular moments. Rashid Khan, a leg-spinner, bowled the 13th over against Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma of the SRH. Klaasen was bowled the fifth ball, and he lofted it towards long-off after releasing his arms.
Rahul Tewatia made a fantastic leap and caught the ball with his left hand, even though the ball appeared to have the elevation to clear the boundary ropes for a six.
He sensed he might touch the boundary lines when he landed close to the ropes, so he let go of the ball just in time to keep from stepping over. Despite not being able to finish the catch, the GT all-rounder’s effort prevented the ball from going for six.
In the first innings, GT posted a total of 224. Shubman Gill led from the front with 76 off 38 balls, and Sai Sudharsan (48 off 23) scored his part in the powerplay. The England batter Jos Buttler hammered 64 off 37 deliveries. For SRH, Jaydev Unadkat picked up three wickets in the final over and ended with figures of 3/35 from his four-over spell.
SRH lost early wickets where both Travis Head and Ishan Kishan were dismissed cheaply. SRH are struggling at ninth in the points table in the IPL 2025 points standings, and desperately need a win to stay in playoff contention. GT with their six wins of the season and sit comfortably in fourth place, aiming for a spot in the playoffs.
