Washington Sundar will not be playing the crucial Gujarat Titans’ (GT) clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, May 6.
The winner of this clash will move to the top of the points table. Mumbai have 14 points from 11 matches, while Gujarat have the same number of points after playing one game fewer. These two teams met earlier in the season in Ahmedabad. The Titans scored 196/8 before restricting Mumbai to 160/6.
Toss Update
Shubman Gill called correctly at the toss and decided to bowl first. He opined that the pitch won’t change much as the game goes on. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya said that he doesn’t have problems batting first. He said that it would be important for his team to execute their plans and be “ruthless” for 20 overs.
Arshad Khan comes in for Washington Sundar, MI remain unchanged
Left-arm seam-bowling all-rounder Arshad Khan replaced Washington Sundar in the playing XI for the Gujarat Titans. Arshad will be playing against his former team. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians decided to go unchanged for this important encounter.

We will bowl first. I don’t think the wicket will change much, got to have a total on the board and then chase it. It’s all about delivering our best as a team. We have one change. Arshad comes back for Sundar. Rabada is back (in the squad), but he will need a few practice sessions and a few games to get back in his groove. We are fortunate that we can use Kishore when needed. We have 6-7 bowling options.
Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians
We don’t mind batting. There’s a lot of breeze. Will be fine to bowl second in such conditions as well. For us it’s important to execute our plans. In IPL, anyone can come in and change a game. We need to stick to our plans and be ruthless for 20 overs. We need to maintain discipline, need to be humble and focussed. We are playing with the same team.
