Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were spotted travelling to Vrindavan to seek the blessings of spiritual teacher Premanand Maharaj just one day after ending his storied Test career. After Kohli announced his retirement, the pair, who are well-known for their strong spiritual convictions, arrived in New Delhi on May 12 and then proceeded to Vrindavan on May 13.
For Kohli and Anushka, the trip to Vrindavan is a poignant occasion. When the couple arrived, they were led by disciples who had come to honour Maharajji. The couple has previously travelled to Premanand Maharaj. Kohli, Anushka, and their kids also went to the ashram earlier this year following India’s heartbreaking 1-3 Test series loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Virat Kohli will play in the remaining IPL 2025 games.
After playing 123 Test matches and amassing 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, including 30 hundreds and 31 fifties, Kohli, who made his debut in 2011, declared his retirement from the longest format. He became India’s most successful Test captain after leading the team in 68 Test matches and won 40 of them. The 36-year-old announced his intention to retire from Test cricket on Instagram on May 12, just before India’s five-match Test series against England began on June 20. Interestingly, he had spent the previous month in negotiations with the BCCI.
Following a decline in form in the format, especially in 2020–2022, Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket. He did, however, have a strong 2023 season, scoring 671 runs at an average of 55.91 in eight Test matches. Even so, his decision might have been influenced by the demands of managing his workload and a multi-format schedule.
On May 17, however, when the IPL 2025 commences, the 36-year-old will be seen in action. As the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who are presently ranked second in the standings, Kohli hopes to lead his side to their first IPL championship.
