At the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) easily chased down 206 runs to defeat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets in a high-stakes match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. LSG is no longer in the running for the playoffs after this defeat.
Before LSG got off to a blazing start, SRH won the toss and chose to bowl first. with Aiden Markram’s 61 off 38 providing strong support for Mitchell Marsh’s quick 65 off 39. After captain Rishabh Pant was dismissed for just seven runs, LSG reached a respectable 205/7 in their 20 overs thanks to a fast 45 from just 26 balls from Nicholas Pooran. With two wickets for 28, Eshan Malinga was the best bowler for SRH, but debutants Harsh Dubey, Nitish Reddy, and Harshal Patel also contributed with one wicket apiece.
Abhishek Sharma’s 59 off 20 balls gave his squad a roaring start as the SRH openers came out determined to chase 206. Atharva Taide was dismissed for just 13 runs, but SRH maintained their lead the entire time. Heinrich Klaasen’s 47 off 28 made sure the momentum stayed with the visitors, while Ishan Kishan played a strong hand with a 35-run knock. Aniket Verma and Nitish Reddy easily finished the chase in 18.2 overs, although Kamindu Mendis departed injured following a strong 32.
William O’Rourke and Shardul Thakur both took one wicket, but Digvesh Rathi stood out among the LSG bowlers with two. The LSG bowlers, however, were mainly unable to stop the run flow.
