Ryan Rickelton lofted a slot delivery bowled by Kyle Jamieson for a one-bounce boundary to the long-on region during Match 69 of the ongoing Indian Premier League between the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium. Rickelton hit the Kiwi pacer for a boundary for the second time in the game’s first over.
The top-order batsman moved under the length delivery and lifted it over mid-on. Despite not being smacked in the middle of the bat, the ball nearly went over the ropes on the full. The following delivery was a back-of-a-length delivery that was punched to the cover point with no run. After being invited to bat first, MI scored 17/0 after two overs.

Ryan Rickelton’s knock ended with the first ball of the powerplay’s final over.
Rickelton expected to take a short delivery from Marco Jansen. However, he ended up spooning the ball straight up for Shreyas Iyer to make a simple catch at mid-on. The southpaw left after scoring 27 off 20. His innings had a total of five fours.
Earlier in the evening, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field. Notably, the winner of this contest will aim to finish in the top two of the points table. Speaking about PBKS, this is only the second time in IPL history that they have reached the playoffs, following the 2014 season. They would be hoping to go the distance and break their trophy drought. MI will be looking to win their sixth title.
