In Match 70 of the 2025 Indian Premier League, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, Rishabh Pant, received accolades for his decision to dismiss a non-striker run-out appeal against Jitesh Sharma of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru off the bowling of Digvesh Rathi. For RCB, who were hoping for a top-two finish to earn two chances to advance to the IPL final, the game was crucial.
Jitesh, who had just struck his first IPL fifty with a massive six off a free hit, was trying to lead the team over the finish line when the incident occurred in the seventeenth over of RCB’s chase. The RCB captain was well out of his crease when Digvesh broke the stumps at the non-striker’s end on the fourth delivery of the over.
The LSG captain stepped in and withdrew the appeal after Rathi filed an appeal and the on-field umpires sent the call to the third umpire. Jitesh was off of his ground, according to the third umpire, but he survived when Pant withdrew.
When Not Out appeared on the large screen, Jitesh approached Rishabh Pant and gave him a hug.
Rishabh pant : I will take back the appeal 🔥🔥

Interestingly, the first ball of the same over had seen the right-handed batter dismissed off a reverse sweep, only for it to emerge as a back-foot no-ball as Rathi’s foot touched the return crease. The no-ball proved costly, as the RCB skipper survived while batting on 49 and went on to bring up his fifty with a six.
Eventually, Jitesh, along with Mayank Agarwal’s heroics, helped RCB chase down the target with ease to seal their place in Qualifier 1, where they will take on Punjab Kings on May 29. The win also meant that RCB became the first team in IPL history to win all seven away matches in a single season.
