The Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) have released their 15-man roster as they prepare to defend their home turf at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence in the highly anticipated Global Super League (GSL) 2025. The Warriors are ready for an exciting season, thanks to a group rich in international experience and a mix of explosive youth and established veterans.
Following a great third-place performance in the inaugural 2024 season, the Warriors have made a few crucial changes while maintaining a solid core led by stars like Imran Tahir, Moeen Ali, Romario Shepherd, and Gudakesh Motie.
The side has included budding wicketkeeper-batters Jewel Andrew and Amir Jangoo, as well as seasoned top-order powerhouses Johnson Charles and Evin Lewis. Akeal Hossein, a left-arm spin master, adds firepower to the bowling unit.
Ramanullah Gurbaz, who returns to the Warriors following successful Caribbean Premier League (CPL) stints, Irish pacer Mark Adair, and Pakistani all-rounder Saud Shakeel round out the roster, adding diversity and depth.
The Warriors will be without Shai Hope, Kevlon Anderson, and Roston Chase, who are on West Indies Test duty. Keemo Paul is sidelined due to an injury.
The 2025 GSL season begins in grand style with debutants Central Stags (New Zealand) and Hobart Hurricanes XI (Australia) facing off in a day game, followed by the Guyana Amazon Warriors facing off against defending champions Rangpur Riders of Bangladesh in the night fixture on the same day at Providence. The defending International League T20 champions, Dubai Capitals, will also be competing.
