India’s Smriti Mandhana has recovered the top spot in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings.
The 28-year-old moved up one spot, returning to the top for the first time since November 2019.
South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt dropped to joint-second place (with England’s new captain Nat Siver-Brunt) after scoring 27 and 28 in the first two ODIs against the West Indies.
This gave way to Mandhana, who now leads with 727 rating points to the runners-up’s 719, ending Wolvaardt’s more than six-month reign at the top.
Tazmin Brits, Wolvaardt’s teammate, moved up five places to 27th after scoring a half-century in the first match of the three-match series, which is now level after South Africa recovered from a four-wicket loss to beat the hosts by 40 runs in the second match in Barbados over the weekend.
In other news, Suné Luus, a former Proteas captain, scored 76 in the second match, moving up seven places to 42nd in the batters list and seven places to 42nd in the bowlers list.
Qiana Joseph, the West Indies opener, jumped 12 spots to joint-67th place after scoring 60 in their first match.
Spinners Afy Fletcher and Nonkululeko Mlaba made the most substantial advances in the bowlers list, moving up four and six places, respectively, to 19th and 23rd position after taking four wickets in the second match.
